Intimacy, Romantic Love, and Conflict: Practical Suggestions for Single College Students

Arthur Nielsen, M.D., Northwestern University

In this talk, Dr. Neilsen describes and unpacks the concepts of intimacy, romantic love, and interpersonal conflict as they manifest themselves in the relationships of today’s college students. Each of these topics present emotional challenges that can be managed well or poorly. After describing the concepts and challenges, Dr. Nielsen offers practical suggestions on how to develop and sustain intimacy, find and tame romantic love, and manage interpersonal conflict. These suggestions will assist students in making their close relationships happier, more rewarding, and longer lasting.
